Partner Lydia Sigelakis is focused on traditional labor law matters. She handles collective bargaining, grievances, and arbitrations, and advises unions on employment law matters.
Lydia represents clients in matters before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the New York City Commission on Human Rights, NLRB, PERB, NYC Office of Collective Bargaining, and the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. In addition, she participates in federal and state court proceedings on behalf of the firm’s union clients.
Lydia joined Spivak Lipton in 2005. Prior to joining the firm, Lydia worked for the AFL-CIO’s Asian Institute (now part of the AFL-CIO’s Solidarity Center) where she investigated worker rights abuses in Asia. She also served as country representative in Bangladesh, running programs including worker rights education, legal assistance, and schools for child laborers.
In addition, Lydia worked for the United States Department of Labor, where she participated in drafting the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act regulations and administered DOL training programs, both domestically and internationally.
