Partner Eric R. Greene advises Spivak Lipton’s union clients in the entertainment industry, including by serving as National Counsel to the American Guild of Variety Artists. He has led and negotiated many complex labor agreements and frequently interacts with the NLRB, filing for elections and participating in hearings. Eric also counsels employee benefit funds on statutory and regulatory compliance, represents unions and collectively bargained pension and welfare funds in bankruptcy proceedings, and engages in federal litigation.
Eric has counseled in the organizing of workers in digital media and live entertainment, and the negotiation of numerous first contracts in those industries. He takes great pride in cultivating the next generation of trade unionists.
Eric joined Spivak Lipton in 1996 and became a partner in 2005. He currently serves as a Managing Partner of the Firm. He is actively engaged in preserving and maintaining the historical legacy of the firm, and is involved with its financial, human resources, and operations aspects. Eric values the substantive work of Spivak Lipton and believes that labor plays an integral role in our democracy. He develops deep, long-term relationships with clients, and is known for being their tireless advocate while respecting all sides of a story.
Before coming to Spivak Lipton, Eric served as General Counsel to Local 810 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He is also involved in political work, including developing PACs, working on congressional campaigns, and engaging in local politics.
Eric is an avid reader with a passion for books about labor history. He’s not the first in his family to do union work - his grandmother was a shop steward for the Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union. He believes in being tough, resourceful, and creative in order to navigate an uneven playing field.
