Associate Sarasvati (Sara) Spaur is primarily engaged in the representation of health & welfare, pension, annuity, and other employee benefit plans. Sara works with Fund Trustees, Administrators, and Fund Co-Counsel to provide day-to day advice and assist with compliance and regulatory matters. She also represents our benefit fund clients in ERISA litigation.

In addition to her employee benefits work, Sara supports our union clients in collective bargaining negotiations, arbitrations, and union-related litigation.

Sara became an associate in 2020 after having clerked for the firm the previous year. At Spivak Lipton, she enjoys getting involved in varied legal work and having new opportunities to use her knowledge and skills to serve clients’ best interests.

Sara has shown a strong commitment to the labor movement since her undergraduate studies, when she interned with the National Federation of Federal Employees in Washington, DC. During law school, she interned at the N.Y. Attorney General’s Social Justice Division and participated in New York University School of Law's Civil Litigation-Employment Law Clinic. She also worked as a law clerk with the Engineers and Scientists of California, Local 20 in Oakland, CA through the AFL-CIO’s Law Student Union Summer program. Her family members are proud union members.

Sara is a recreational hiker and violinist. She recently joined a community orchestra.
